The primary goal of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) is to foster the development, operation, and maintenance of an integrated national transportation system. This is accomplished through the statewide transportation planning process conducted by each state. The intended outcome is a safe and secure world-class transportation system that meets mobility needs and helps provide for a competitive economy, livable communities and a sustainable environment.
