<li><a target="_briefs" href="http://atri-online.org/2012/05/09/mapping-large-truck-rollovers-2012-report-request/">Mapping Large Truck Rollovers 2012 Report</a> (<b>Available upon request</b>)- This report identifies dense concentrations of large truck rollovers using historical crash data from 2001 to 2009.  This analysis demonstrates that a geographic database of large truck rollover events can be created to identify locations where large truck rollovers frequently occur.</li>
<li><a target="­briefs" href="http://tinyurl.com/MTI-cramodels">Proactive Assessment of Accident Risk to Improve Safety on a System of Freeways</a> &#8211; This report describes the development and evaluation of real-time crash risk-assessment models for four freeway corridors. The models are based on a binary classification approach, with traffic parameters measured at surrounding vehicle detection station locations as the independent variables. The analysis techniques used in this study are logistic regression and classification trees.</li>

State Highway System: STHS plus 31.1 miles of state-owned roads not on the STHS and 42.1 miles of roads not state-owned nor on the STHS for a total of 7,830.<br />
1,803 Bridges &#8211; 534 of these are large box and pipe culverts.</p>
<p>25 Rural and Urban Transit Providers</p>
<p>Currently there are 1,839.5 miles of operating rail lines in South Dakota<br />
The department handles a variety of railroad programs such as the Railroad Crossing Improvement Program under the office of Project Development.</p>
<p>The office of Railroads handles the management of all real and personal property acquired by the state for railroad purposes. This includes leasing of property, utility installation, track rehabilitation, industrial track expansion and construction. This office also prepares an annual planning document which outlines rail improvements that the state intends to complete for each year.</p>
<p>South Dakota currently has 72 public use airports:</p>
