This webinar will explore the July 2009 international scan on “Linking Transportation Performance and Accountability,” released by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). The scan examined how transportation agencies in the United Kingdom, Sweden, Australia, and New Zealand practice performance management and demonstrate accountability by linking their system and organizational performance to their budgets and plans. Specifically, the scan explored ways that transportation agencies use performance metrics to manage, explain, deliver, adjust, and account for their transportation budgets. The scan also captured the evolutionary progress in international performance management, since a similar study was undertaken in 2004. The presentation will include an overview of scan findings as well as a summary of the scan team’s strategy and plans for implementing key recommendations.
